South Finistère is a seaside region with long sandy beaches and miles of cliffs shaped by millennia of erosion. Its extensive coastline, which runs along the North Atlantic from the Pointe du Raz to Pont aven, is known as the Cornouaille coast (not to be confused with English Cornwall). This part of the Brittany coast is steeped in history and legend, as well as breathtaking natural beauty. With a seafaring culture, you’ll discover a coastline dotted with fishing villages and picturesque ports, such as Concarneau and Bénodet. These are popular destinations for tourists wishing to enjoy the region’s famous seafood dishes or sweet delicacies. Inland, you’ll discover tourist sites that will take you back in time, as well as towns and villages rich in culture. The communes of Quimper are the main ones. and Quimperlé are linked by the ocean via their respective rias, the Odet and Laïta. The former, nicknamed the capital of Cornouaille, will charm you with its Saint Corentin cathedral, half-timbered houses and summer events that reflect the pure traditions of the Bigouden region. Dance to the sound of the Muse horns at the Cornouaille festival and learn all about this land of painters at the Musée des Beaux Arts and Pont Aven. You can also take one of our many forest trails or visit some of our islands, such as Ouessant or Sein, where you can go horseback riding or kayaking, among other activities!
There will also be activities specially designed for children, such as animation programs during the school vacations.
