The Musée du Bord de Mer in Bénodet
During your next stay in Finistère, take the opportunity to discover Bénodet. This friendly Breton seaside resort offers a multitude of activities, each more fun than the last. Not least in the Musée du Bord de Mer, just a stone’s throw from the town’s tourist office.
The museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions
The Musée du Bord de Mer in Bénodet offers an original annual program based around the sea, and plunges you into the history of sea bathing in Brittany, on the banks of the Odet. The permanent exhibition is open all year round. It retraces life in the seaside resort, from the first baths to the present day, through photos, models and objects.
The museum also offers temporary exhibitions. This summer, it’s a joint exhibition by several artists who are members of the Peintres officiels de la Marine. This season’s theme is “To each his own island”. You’ll discover many Breton and non-Breton islands, brought to life by the paintbrushes of their authors. This temporary exhibition is available until September 18, 2023.
Practical information
The museum is open to the public all year round. However, in July and August, it is open from Thursday to Monday. Admission is free and accessible to all, including the disabled.
