What to remember about this Ria open to the ocean?
A ria is a small coastal river or river valley invaded by the sea at high tide. This type of river name is widely used in Brittany to designate these uncommonly populous streams. In fact, the Odet is the largest in the region. It represents a small bay dotted with islets whose mouth is in the Atlantic Ocean. Indeed, it’s in this wonderful dream environment of beaches and impressive natural landscapes that you’ll find the delightful little seaside resort of Bénodet and our campsite in South Finistère, Le Helles *** located in Combrit Saint-Marine.
Located in the south of Brittany, this authentic Cornish coastal resort is the perfect place to spend an unforgettable vacation. And that’s because of the quality of the climate, the discoveries to be made and above all the diversity of activities to be enjoyed in Finistère near Quimper.
What to see when crossing the Odet?
The exceptional location of our 3-star establishment on the banks of the Odet will enable you to explore the river on water or land. Take the Vedettes de l’Odet cruise boats to Bénodet, just a few minutes from our campsite. This popular seaside resort is the ideal base from which to discover the islands of Finistère, such as the Glénan Islands, and enjoy a range of water sports.
On the way to Quimper, you can also admire the natural landscapes, small forgotten coves and beautiful manor houses on the banks of the ria. On the west bank, you can see or stop to visit archaeological sites and castles such as Pérennou. The crossing to Quimper, medieval city and capital of South Finistère, takes an average of 2 hours.
